Miss Philippines Earth has officially ended its search, at least for the rest of the year, as 24-year-old Athena Mae Imperial from the Municipality of Casiguran, Aurora has just bagged the Miss Philippines Earth 2011 crown and the right to represent the Philippines in the Miss Earth 2011 pageant in Pattaya, Thailand.
The mass communication student from the University of the Philippines Diliman bested other forty-eight gorgeous girls during the coronation night held tonight, June 5 at Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
Before answering the final question, she confidently quoted the Bible verse “Many are called but few are chosen” and aced the answer on her take in the installation of a nuclear powerplant in the Philippines.
Like last year’s winner, Imperial is one of the shortest contestants this year. She only stands 5’6″ but definitely, she was the smartest. Hometown favorite Jonavi Quiray, a frontrunner for the crown, ended up as her runner-up and was crowned Miss Philippines-Air after choking at the Q&A round. Michelle Gavagan, Muriel Orais and Tasha Rico completed the Top 5.
